Do foreigners studying in Krakow make use of its cultural institutions and, if so, do they find them accessible? We invite you to read the report "Accessibility of Krakow's Museums for Young Foreigners".
Museums are an important means of integrating newly arrived foreigners, especially students, allowing them to effectively immerse themselves in the urban fabric and learn about the history and culture of the city. Do foreigners studying in Krakow make use of its cultural institutions and, if so, do they find them accessible? Answering this question was the main objective of a study conducted by a team led by Olga Kosińska, the results of which are presented in the report "Accessibility of Krakow's Museums for Young Foreigners". The research was carried out within the framework of the Critical Heritage Studies Hub, with financial support from POB Heritage, as part of the Strategic Initiative for Excellence Programme at the Jagiellonian University, in cooperation with the Research Institute of Cultural Organisations - IBOK.
The document presents the conclusions of the research and identifies existing good practices in the field. It also highlights the identified barriers to the use of selected Krakow museums by young foreigners, and contains a number of recommendations for these institutions in terms of future activities to make their collections and spaces accessible to these audiences.
